Analytics only if you accept

Google Analytics

The site uses Google Analytics 4 to learn which pages and features are used. It is off until you press Accept on the banner. If you press Decline, or ignore the banner, nothing is sent to Google and no analytics cookies are set.

What is recorded

After you accept, the site sends Google these events:

• The pages you view, with their address, title and the page you came from.
• How far down a page you scroll, and which section headings you reach.
• The links you click: their address, their text and which part of the page they are in, such as the header, the footer or the documentation sidebar. Links that leave this site are included.
• Which FAQ question, menu or documentation navigation you open.
• That you copied a code block, and which one, including which installer it used, such as Homebrew or uv, when it was an install command. That you copied selected text, how long it was and whether it came from a code block. The copied text itself is never sent.
• The address of a page that does not exist, when you land on the not-found page.
• Changes to the light or dark theme.
• Approximate location and device details, as Google provides them from your connection and browser, and how long you engage with a page. Google also adds its own signals, such as whether this is your first visit and when a session starts.

The site tells Google not to use this data for ad personalisation and keeps advertising storage off. It shows no ads and does not sell data. Google processes what is sent under its own terms; see the Google Privacy Policy.

Cookies and storage

Once you accept, Google Analytics sets two cookies in your browser:

• _ga, which tells returning visitors apart.
• _ga_<id>, which keeps the state of your current session.

Your choice itself is stored in your browser’s localStorage under the key analytics-consent. It never leaves your browser. The theme you pick is stored there too, under theme.

Change your choice

You can switch analytics on or off at any time. Choosing Decline after accepting stops the events and deletes the Google Analytics cookies for this site.
